The City
“Catalan Perpignan” used to be the capital of French Catalonia from the 10th to the 17th century and reached its Golden Age as the capital of the Kingdom of Majorca. Loge De Mer (Town Hall)
Loge de Mer, "Sea Lodge" in English, is one of Perpignan’s finest and oldest historical sites. Made of river stones, it represents the typical architecture of the region. It used to be a stock exchange and the maritime consulate, as symbolized by the hard-to-miss iron vessel.

Castillet
Standing at the crossing between the old and the modern city, this stunning castle used to be not only a city gate, but also a prison. Built by Guillame Gitard in the 14th century, today it isn't only an architectural monument, but often houses various temporary exhibitions.

Around Perpignan
The countryside has many interesting spots and villages worth a visit, such as Elne and its 2,700-year-old citadel, Riversaltes (renowned for its vineyards), or Saint Estève with its beautiful landscape at the edge of the Pyrenees’ chain. Campo Santo et Chapelle De La Funeraria
By the St John’s Cathedral you can find the only cloister-cemetery in France that has been classified as a historical monument since 1910. Built in the beginning of the 14th century, it also has an ossuary and the current building consists of 4 galleries about 54 m long each.

Cycling
A fun way to discover the city is by bike. If you opt to take a guided tour, a guide will show you the most interesting attractions in Perpignan. Along the tour, which lasts approximately 2 hours, you will see the modern part of the city as well as the historical centre, all while having fun and working out.
The local bike hire system is called BIP, stations can be found all around town.

Canet-en-Roussillon

Although Perpignan is busier over the summer, there are plenty of great bars for all tastes in a buzzing atmosphere year around. Rivesaltes Airport
Perpignan is served by an international airport, Rivesaltes, located just 7 km north of the city.
The cheapest and fastest way to get into the town is the shuttle service with Courriers Catalans (tel: +33 468 55 68 00) that takes approximately 15 minutes. The buses are more or less synchronized with the flights time schedule and you can purchase your bus ticket directly from the bus driver.
There is also a taxi rank just outside the terminal, a faster, but more expensive way to get into the city (the trip, in this case, takes about 10 minutes).

Public Transport
The CTPM Bus Company runs an efficient network of public buses and shuttles. If you plan to travel to many places it´s more convenient to get a day pass. You can purchase tickets on board, at almost any press kiosk or at the Galerie Lafayette.
In the Old Town, you can use the “P’tit bus” – a free shuttle that makes pick-ups around every 7 minutes, except Sunday and Bank holidays (from 7:45 am to 12:20 pm and from 1:15 pm to 7:40 pm).
