Chennai International Airport is located 7 kilometers south of Chennai, and getting to and from the airport is easy given its taxi, bus and train connections. Pre-paid taxis can be ordered from the airport arrivals terminal to Chennai’s Egmore district. The suburban railway network also serves the airport via the Tirusulam station, which is located a short walk opposite the airport’s main international entrance. The travel time to Egmore Station in central Chennai is about 40 minutes. The Metropolitan Transport Corporation also provides bus services from the airport into Chennai. Be careful when leaving the airport, as there are many beggars and taxi drivers who will offer to carry your luggage or offer you transport, and it is easy lose sight of your baggage in the crowds.
